How is a vehicle actually transported?
Bikes are crated or padded and secured upright; cars roll onto single- or multi-car carriers and are lashed at the wheels. Enclosed carriers cost more than open ones and are worth it for premium vehicles. Driving the car yourself over long distances adds kilometres, fuel, hotel stops, and risk — for most intercity moves the carrier works out safer and often comparable in cost.
What documents do I need?
Keep copies of the RC, insurance policy, and your ID ready; the transporter issues the LR listing the vehicle's condition at pickup. Photograph the vehicle from all sides (with the odometer) at handover — that photo set plus the LR is your entire claim basis if anything is disputed at delivery.
How should I prepare the vehicle?
- Fuel tank about one-quarter full — required for loading, light for transit.
- Remove all personal belongings, toll tags, and loose accessories.
- Note existing scratches and dents on the LR before signing.
- Disable or hand over keys for alarms; keep one key set with you.
What does vehicle transport cost?
Distance, vehicle size, and carrier type set the price: bikes typically travel for a few thousand rupees between metros, cars roughly ₹8,000–₹25,000+ depending on route and carrier — indicative only, like all figures in our charges guide.
