Office Relocation Checklist: How to Move an Office Without Losing Workdays
By Kaushik Logistics Team
An office move that doesn't cost workdays is executed over a weekend and planned six weeks ahead — with IT cutover as the critical path, every asset tagged before it's packed, and one internal owner per department coordinating with the mover.
When should planning start?
Six weeks out for a small-to-mid office: finalize the new layout, notify the landlord, and book the mover after a site survey of both premises — lift sizes, loading bays, and society/building permissions at both ends decide the moving plan. Four weeks out, freeze the seating plan so every desk, chair, and CPU can be tagged to a destination.
What's the right way to handle IT?
IT is the reason office moves fail. Back up everything before disconnection day, photograph each workstation's cabling, and move servers and network gear as a dedicated, insured consignment — first out, first reinstalled. Schedule internet activation at the new office at least a week before the move so the network is live before desks arrive.
How does asset tagging work?
Every item gets a coded label mapping it to a room and desk at the destination — the mover's crew then delivers boxes to positions, not to a pile in reception. It's the single practice that most shortens Day 1 chaos, and it doubles as your inventory for insurance documentation.
What should employees do — and not do?
Employees pack personal drawers into one labelled box each and take valuables home; the professional crew handles everything else, including fragile equipment packing. Publish the moving weekend timeline early so nobody plans client meetings for the Monday after.
Why execute over a weekend?
Load Friday evening, transport and place over Saturday, IT verification Sunday, business as usual Monday. That cadence is the standard for our office relocation service across Pune, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. Book a site survey and we'll draft the phase plan with your team.
